Why leadership?

Leadership is key for everyone’s success. A great personal leadership can give one a series of great personal disciplines. With discipline, one is respectful. The foundation of leadership starts from this discipline and respect.

One needs to have a strong self respect before they can respect others well. This respecting others will lead to others respecting themselves in return.

Respect is a value which one needs to firstly give. The more one gives, the more one will gain.

Patience is another great virtue of leadership. Patience proves that one is thoughtful and caring. It gives us enough time to think before taking actions.

Sincerity is another inevitable thing that we must have. A high level of sincerity will give one a strong level of personal integrity. This integrity increases one's reliability. A person with integrity does what they say, and only say what they have proved or are going to prove.

Order is also indispensable. While trying to optimize their leadership skills and ability, they should maintain a great order for themselves. Tasks and things must have their own places and time.

Silence: leaders know when and what to speak. They know when to keep their mouth shut-up. They respond only where necessary.

Tranquility: without this attitude, leaders can hardly prove their greatness in thoughts and actions. Tranquility often gives one enough time to think of enough reasons before taking actions.

Leadership is people-focused. They are neither selfish, nor intimidating others to do what they want done. In stead, leaders speak reasons and confirm sharing results once delivered.

Leaders communicate their expectation towards their team well in advance. Along the process, they ensure their team is well equipped with enough skills, ability and knowledge.

Leaders take all the blames, while giving all the credit to their team once due. Whenever any mistake emerges, they know that they are responsible and remain in charge. If that is a credit due to particular team member(s), they just give, give, give.

Leaders who give 100% credit to their staff can enjoy 200% of the credit themselves. Why? Because on one hand, their team enjoy their work much more which would result in a better commitment towards excellence; on the other hand, their supervisors quickly see that they are not at all selfish and focus only on their people. This could lead to greatness in their team performance ever after.

Leaders are readers. Reading is a great means to gaining new knowledge. Fast readers are quick learners. The better they are informed, the better they can decide on taking necessary actions.

Leaders are salespeople. They sell their ideas, and plans of action to their team. That democratic style of leadership can ensure one's great leading as always. Their ideas are supported and applauded. If team achieve targets based on that idea, they give all the credit to their team.

Leaders are listeners. They listen well towards both sides of the thing. While thinking solutions, leaders observe where they can take in more and better inputs to arrive at great deliverables for team.

Leaders are writers. Writing is one of the only two ways for one to express their ideas. Not knowing how to write, one can rarely be an effective leader.

Leaders are speakers. Again, words are power. Careful choices of words can prove leaders care. Good words come from good/disciplined thoughts. Good thoughts reside inside a physically healthy body and mind. Leaders therefore take good care of themselves, physically and mentally.

Leaders are lifelong learners. The moment they stop learning, leaders can no longer lead their team. They become the ineffective thinkers, and therefore unwise leaders sooner rather than later.

Leaders avoid anything that may damage their mental and physical health. Taking drugs, drinking alcohol, lack of exercise etc. can damage one's great reliability and credit as a leader.

Leaders are open-minded. They listen. They observe. They ask good questions. All they do is to try to come to the one solution that will benefit all, if not just their team.

Leaders are caring. They care for their team. Their good mental and physical health can ensure that they give their team a great care.

Leaders know that their #1 clients are their team members. Everyday, they think of how to better sell their ideas, how to support their team, how to satisfy each and everyone of them. By supporting their team members, leaders can always influence their team towards the right things as always.

Who are leaders? Each and every one of us is. Saying we're not. We don't take the responsibilities as one. At first stage, we lead ourselves. Next, we lead team. We can lead team only if we can lead ourselves well enough. Next? We lead a bigger team. The happier followers we have, the more influential we become as leaders.

Many more great characteristics and qualities will be further explained in a series of leadership programs as provided by vbuild leaders.
